Overview

Reid's Distillery is a family-run gin distillery in Leslieville, and it photographs like nowhere else in Toronto: working copper stills, warm bulb light, and a big curved tiled bar that becomes the centre of the party the moment the doors open. I photographed a wedding reception here across the Lounge and the Distillery spaces, with the couple getting ready in the Bridal Suite, and the venue did what the best venues do — it stayed out of the way of the night while giving every frame something worth looking at. If you're planning a wedding or reception at Reid's, I know how the rooms move, where the light falls as the evening goes on, and how the day flows from the bridal suite to speeches and cocktails with the candid moments in between. I was impressed with how the rooms maintained a high level of intimacy with this size and capacity.
